The Collapse of Rana Plaza

Der Einsturz von Rana Plaza

The anniversary of the Rana Plaza collapse is commemorated every year on April 24. It marks one of the most severe disasters in the history of the global textile industry.

The collapse of Rana Plaza made visible worldwide the conditions under which many people work in textile production.

Over 1100 people lost their lives, and thousands more were injured. Their fate reminds us to this day to take responsibility.

As a sustainable fashion company, we see it as our duty to ensure fair, ethical, and transparent production conditions.

Respect for the people behind our clothing is our top priority.

Among other things, we attach great importance to fair, controlled and safe working conditions, high, reliable social standards, and adequate payment.

WHAT WE DO:

Our brand has been GOTS certified since 2020. What is special about GOTS certification is that it is not only based on environmental standards but also places great emphasis on social standards. To ensure compliance with these standards, not only our headquarters in Hanover are inspected annually by an external certification body, but also our production facilities and suppliers. Everyone in the entire supply chain must adhere to these standards and is audited at least once a year by an independent control body.

If you would like to know more about GOTS and our other certificates, please visit our sustainability page.

WHO MADE MY CLOTHES?

The movement "Who Made My Clothes?" arose directly in response to the Rana Plaza collapse – and is now one of the most recognizable symbols for greater transparency in the fashion industry.

The campaign is part of the organization Fashion Revolution, which was founded shortly after 2013.

Their central idea:
Consumers should question who made their clothes – and under what conditions.

OUR PARTNERS

At eve in paradise, we take responsibility for our production chain. This means that we know all the producers involved – from the raw material supplier to the weaving mill, the yarn spinning mill, the dye house, the printing house, and the sewing factory. This is only possible because we have pursued a strategy of long-term and cooperative collaboration with a small number of producers for years.

In doing so, we attach importance to fair and safe working conditions, high social standards, and adequate payment, among other things.

Our certified products are all appropriately labeled and can be found here.
